Key Digital Brings HDMI to the Pro-AV and
College Football World |
|
Key
Digital has college football on their minds this fall. That is
because Key Digital had the opportunity to exclusively partner
with St Louis, Missouri’s Craftsmen Industries on the
cutting-edge mobile marketing vehicle, LG PRESENTS EA
SPORTS NCAA FOOTBALL CHALLENGE.
This mobile marketing vehicle has introduced new consumer
electronic technology and gaming titles to thousands of
college football fans nationwide, delivering a unique and
interactive tailgating experience. Craftsmen Industries is the
leading manufacturer of customized vehicles for the event
& promotion industry, and Key Digital was honored at the
opportunity to prove their reputation as the Experts in
digital video technology and solutions to Craftsmen and
deliver this 100% HDMI Matrix solution which enabled this
product showcase to take place.
At the core of this video application is the Key Digital
KD-HDMS4x4-6x2 HDMI Matrix Switcher which
allows for multiple gaming, Blu-Ray, Satellite, and Camera
source feeds to be matrixed independently throughout the
exhibit. Key Digital’s exclusive Buffered Matrix
Technology allows this highly-custom video matrix system to
deliver any source to any display at any time in any
combination possible without any HDMI limitations or Key
restrictions, epitomizing Key Digital’s “One Key Is All You
Need™” marketing campaign.

“When it came time to put our System Design together, we
were happy to accomplish this system in two space and
cost-effective 6x2 matrix units.” said Jonathon Ferry,
Regional Sales Manager- Central at Key Digital. “Using an
8x8 matrix unit was discussed, but one of the key advantages
to our 4x4 product is it’s card-slot flexibility, which
allows it to accomplish any configuration that adds up to 8
without having to step up to the price point of an 8x8
matrix product.”

Craftsmen Industries latest Mobile Marketing Vehicle will
travel to a different collegiate venue each weekend and will
be sure to score on every drive. When fully expanded, this
truck is the highlight of the tailgate party and features a
fully-loaded kitchen stocked with the latest gadgets and
appliances for cooking demonstrations and samplings. The other
half of the vehicle showcases eight LED and Plasma HDTV’s that
are all connected via Key Digital KD-BBRx HDMI Baluns and Red
Iguana Series HDMI cables.

“The Key Digital Products play an absolutely crucial role
in this system” says Greg Matthiesen of Craftsmen
Industries. "These screens are the centerpiece of the mobile
tour vehicle, which includes gaming kiosks and viewing
stations to catch up-to-the minute scores and highlights
from rivalry games across the country.”
Thanks to our partnership with Craftsmen Industries, Key
Digital is pleased to bring HDMI to college students across
the country to enjoy. Key Digital’s products are not only held
to the highest standards of quality, performance, and
reliability in the equipment rack of the typical Residential
or Commercial installation, but also in delivering road-tested
results as our gear makes its way to your local college. Be on
the look out for the most exciting HDMI mobile experience in
the USA as the LG PRESENTS EA
SPORTS NCAA FOOTBALL CHALLENGE mobile marketing
vehicle visits you this fall. | |
| Key Digital Hosts Inaugural HDMI.org Road
show |
|
Key Digital was honored to host HDMI.org’s first NY
Road show this past October. Developed and provided
through a partnership between HDMI Licensing LLC, CEDIA and
Quantum Data, this event marked the first time that HDMI.org
has held an official seminar outside of their California
offices.
Billed as an “HDMI Boot camp”, attendees were treated to a
day long informative and hands-on training session held at Key
Digitals in-house training center, “Key Digital University” to
help electronic systems contractors understand HDMI technology
and how to better design and troubleshoot complex HDMI
systems. Here the mysteries and misunderstandings of HDMI were
conquered.

Guest host for the session was Key Digital’s President and
resident expert on all things HDMI, Mike Tsinberg. During the
course of the day, there were hands-on demonstrations showing
that HDMI can be tamed with the right knowledge and equipment.
Thanks to all who attended and look for more events like this
in the future. | |

| FAQ's |
|
Q: |
“Our Company has resisted using HDMI for any
lengthy cable runs because many claim that it is not
reliable to send 1080p any distance exceeding 50 feet.
We now are confronted with many customers that request
HDMI for their jobs. How can Key Digital
help?” |
|
A: |
For the past three years, Key Digital has offered
HDMI cables up to 75 feet under the HD Python™ series.
These cables are compliant with the latest HDMI
standards. They will pass 3D signals, 2K-4K resolution;
have an audio return channel as well as Ethernet
connectivity. Of course they are also CL3 rated for
in-wall installations, and are considered to be some of
the most reliable cables available today. The Red
Iguana™ series cables will work perfectly for your
equipment rack interconnects where shorter lengths are
required.
|
|
Q: |
“75 ft. for an HDMI cable is good, but I need to
send an HDMI signal 150 ft.” |
|
A: |
With the release of the KD-CATHD HDMI Baluns, Key
Digital is now able to offer its customers 1080p/60 over
two CAT5e/6 cables up to 150 feet, and at all lower
resolutions (1080p/24, 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i) up to
300 feet. They will also transmit 3D signals up to 75ft.
The capabilities of the KD-CATHD Balun pair enable the
extension of HDMI signals to distances that traditional
HDMI cabling cannot achieve and will be the solution
that your company is looking for to add superior quality
and reliability to your install. |
|
Q: |
“I am currently using your KD-HDMS4x4 Matrix
switcher. I have 4 TV’s connected but I don’t see a
picture on one of them. How do I correct this
problem?” |
|
A: |
Whenever you have a problem like this it is usually
an EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) issue.
EDID information includes the manufacturer, product
type, display size etc. It can mean that this particular
display’s resolution is different than the others. You
may need to establish a “handshake” for this display. Go
to “EDID Control Mode”, and then select the appropriate
Input with the “Input/Output Channel” button and use the
“Option” button to select the Output Card Slot or (CAT5
Output represented by “.”) that you wish to copy. To do
a quick default EDID handshake for all inputs (instead
of each input individually), press and hold the
“Input/Output Channel” button for 10 seconds and “FO”
will appear on the LCD display. When the EDID is
successfully negotiated, the display will show a rapidly
“circling” LCD segment ending with the output number
remaining lit solid, indicating the handshake is
